Ming Chuan University is an internationalized institution with 5 campus locations in Taiwan and beyond: Taipei, Taoyuan, Jihe, Kinmen, and Michigan. Moreover, Ming Chuan partners with sister universities around the world to provide students and faculty with opportunities for global mobility and equipping them with multi-cultural competencies. In 2000, MCU founded the first all-English- instruction International College and forged its own multi-cultural learning environment. In 2010, Ming Chuan was accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and became the first U.S.-accredited university in Taiwan and Asia. Following in 2012, MCU’s Michigan Location was established. Then in 2017, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business awarded accreditation to the MCU School of Management.
Ming Chuan has also reached out to Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan by setting up education centers. Meanwhile, efforts continue for developing new centers in Myanmar, Korea, Malaysia, and Cambodia. These overseas offices channel international students to MCU Taiwan and showcase our educational feature of glocalization. In Taiwan, we are the only international university that operates an international system – the Ming Chuan Global Education System.

From the beginning of the 21st Century, global change has greatly impacted every aspect of human life. Higher education institutions, especially universities, are constantly facing different challenges. Insightful people even predict that university education as we know it will no longer accommodate the digital era’s needs for talent and that its function of serving as the cradle for talent is also fading. However, universities have long served to kindle knowledge and their knowledge innovation function has not decayed. I strongly believe that in the era of globalization, universities can still create new value and hope for human civilization.
It was at the turn of the century when I took up the position as President of Ming Chuan University. During my terms as President, I visited universities and research centers at home and abroad and experienced how immense changes in global politics, economy and technology can impact higher education. For higher education to meet the challenges of the new era, a blueprint is needed to catalyze the faculty’s dedication in education and to encourage more discussions in academia to plan and prepare together for a bright future for higher education in Taiwan and beyond. Thus, I conceived the concept of the Ming Chuan Global Education System, as we treasure the efforts of every member of the Ming Chuan family to join hands and work hard together. Ming Chuan’s quest for globalization is clearly demonstrated in the education offered at MCU, which emphasizes the cultivation of internationalization and professionalism, so students are equipped with excellent professional competencies, interpersonal communication skills and practical abilities. A learning-oriented education policy that applies localized action and globalized thinking is applied to cultivate the unique traits of Ming Chuan people. This means launching from the ideology of localizing global knowledge and promoting the vision of glocalized local knowledge. Ming Chuan has been promoting internationalization for a long time, and our global alumni have entered the job market in different countries over multiple decades. This not only demonstrates that the direction of our education development is on track, but also that Ming Chuan has achieved outstanding global educational outcomes, as the talents cultivated in our education system can achieve success in global industries.
Located in the bustling city of Taipei, the Taipei Campus is the main campus of MCU. It features modern facilities, state-of-the-art classrooms, and a vibrant academic environment. The campus is home to various colleges and departments specializing in areas such as management, communication, and law, providing a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Situated in the fast-growing Taoyuan City, the Taoyuan Campus offers a spacious and scenic learning environment. It houses colleges and departments specializing in areas such as information technology, design, financial technology, education and applied languages, tourism, social sciences, and health techonology. The campus provides students with access to cutting-edge facilities and opportunities for research and innovation.
In collaboration with Saginaw Valley State University, MCUMI provides a unique educational experience through dual degree and summer programs. Located in Michigan, a state renowned for its natural beauty and vibrant communities, MCUMI offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a diverse and thriving academic environment.
The Jihe Campus primarily caters to EMBA and extension education programs. It also features the Ming Chuan Teaching Hotel. Nestled close to the renowned Shilin Night Market, it also offers students an immersive experience in Taipei’s vibrant food scene.
Based in the historic island of Kinmen, the Kinmen Campus offers a unique cultural and educational setting. It focuses on programs related to cross-strait relations, communication, and tourism. Established in collaboration with the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), MCUT20H offers a dynamic academic experience in the metropolitan of Bangkok. As a partnership between two prestigious institutions, MCUTH benefits from the vast resources and industry connections provided by UTCC, which is operated by the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
